Refugee Heritage

The project redefines refugee camps as political and cultural spaces beyond narratives of violence and displacement. By documenting the history of Dheisheh Camp and reusing UNESCO World Heritage criteria, it challenges colonial definitions of heritage and imagines exile as a contemporary political practice. The project proposes “the heritage of a culture of exile” as a way to rethink collective memory and social, spatial, and political structures beyond the nation-state.
